A School For Tomorrow
THE PATHWAY TO EXCELLENCE

LIVE

Living well is all about figuring out “Where do I fit in?” As you form and contribute to relationships, you need to come to appreciate "My People" and "My Place" with both humility and gratitude. You will learn how to look after yourself and to make a difference in the lives of others.
LIVE WELL IN RELATIONSHIP

Your ability to do this will develop as you understand the history, traditions and background of your culture. If you want to live well, you must first know where you have come from and who you are. This doesn’t mean being stuck in the past and accepting the status quo; you may recognise what was and keep what is still important while building a better solution for a new time.

VALUES FOR LIFE AND ADDING VALUE THROUGH HOW YOU LIVE

Values are an important part of culture. As you engage with others in relationships where you create the right culture together, you will need to be empowered by ideas and beliefs that situate you in your world with relevance and meaningfulness:
    • Context: Approaching life as it is presented in your own situation and relating this to a broader understanding of the world
    • Research: Cultivating a disposition for truth in life by identifying, investigating and responding to evidence
    • Inquiry: Consolidating your views on what matters in life by asking the right questions and using the right tools to answer them
    • Review: Seeking continuous improvement of the processes and outcomes of your life by looking at impact, evaluating data and honing in on what works
    • Creativity: Encouraging yourself to be innovative by harnessing the possibility of your ideas, thinking through them carefully, and paying attention to detail

It is in relationship with others that you will truly find your voice so that you can positively and meaningfully contribute your ideas as a Good Person, Responsible Citizen and Team Creator. These relationships will also help you to direct your agency and your advocacy on behalf of others. It is the combined impact of these that will help you to determine the impact you have upon people you live with in community throughout your life.

“All men are caught in an inescapable network of mutuality, tied in a single garment of destiny. Whatever affects one directly affects all indirectly. I can never be what I ought to be until you are what you ought to be, and you can never be what you ought to be until I am what I ought to be.”

Rev Martin Luther King Jr

THE JOURNEY TOWARDS MASTERY: LIVE

The challenges and opportunities of our world require each of us to take long-term action as individuals striving towards a better future. At the same time, your sense of how to apply shared values, create culture and develop the right solutions should grow as you form connections and close friendships with people of your age and stage of development. Together, you will learn, interact and become increasingly responsible for your actions. This has to be done while you juggle your own daily tasks and needs (like your relationships and education) with the things that happen on a wider scale.

You need to be well to manage all of this with success. On your journey, you will be supported by your peers and mentors. You also need to take responsibility for your own wellness. Your wellness directly impacts your character, affecting how you live and who you become. You need to look after your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health, as well as your life satisfaction and your connection to your community.

This connection will be grounded in the respect you have for those who have come before you, those who are presently living within your community, and those who are yet to come. In time, this respect will also be given to you as you earn your place. The respect will become mutual, especially through the values that you share and exchange with each other.

STEP FORWARD AND UP AS YOU LIVE

Do you want to make a difference in the lives of others? Making a difference – having the right impact – is something that can compel you to embark on a journey of character development that is focused on the needs of others. It will encourage you to take on the challenge of The Pathway to Excellence. As you step forward and up, you will come to realise that it’s not just about you – it’s about us and how we live together.
